About 150 participants including secondary school girls, female teachers, parents, University of Ibadan staff and GegCoC camp officials were present at the Opening Ceremony. The Camp was officially opened by the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Professor Idowu Olayinka who chaired the ceremony. The Dean of Faculty, Professor I Farayi also gave the welcome message while goodwill messages were given by Prof Adenike Ososfisan (The first woman to have a PhD in Computer Science and the first Professor of Computer Science in Africa) , Dr. Eme Owoaje (The Director of UI Research Management Office) Dr. Ayotola Aremu (Director of UI STEP-B Project) and Dr. Sesan Adeyemo (HOD of Computer Science - Host Department). About 230 applications were received for the Nigeria Geek girls Camp. Final batch of the screening exercise will be done on Friday 1/8/2014. Approximately 100 candidates will be selected for the camp based on their performance at the screening test Looking forward to meeting these highly talented girls at GeGCoC 2014
The CEO of HiiT Training Institute, Mr. Kayode Shobajo has announced a donation of 100 Computer textbooks and souvenirs to be used as gifts at Nigerian Geek Girls Collaborative Camp. The gifts will be officially presented by Ibadan Manager of HiiT to the Camp Director, Dr. Yetunde Folajimi before the end of July. The entire GeGCoC team is most grateful to HiiT. More gifts, more geeks, more fun.....

Great news for Computer Geek Girls!
Dell donates 100 flash disks and 58 laptop sleeves to be used during the Computer Geek Girls Collaborative Camp. In a statement by Dell channel Marketing Manager, Mrs Annie Odo-Effiong, Dell is deeply interested in promoting the technology education of children and is glad to be able to support this laudable cause in Nigeria.
